GOod morning!
(10:07:20)

Harry Cross
As a new-ish comer to the NCC community - it would be nicer if the difference between the 2 was made clearer
(10:12:08)

Elvis Velea_266
it's the RIPE Community and the NCC company :)
(10:12:53)

Niall O'Reilly
@Harry -- as Chair Team, we're on it
(10:13:00)
@Elvis -- thanks
(10:13:08)

Dmitry Serbulov
Some body filled fidback form? Looks "Submit "does not it work.
(10:13:39)

Marita Phelan
@dmitry Thank you! We'll look into it straight away
(10:14:05)

Sasha Romijn
Feedback form worked for me, maybe some required fields not filled in?
(10:14:19)

Oliver Payne
Yes the feedback form doesn't currently redirect to a 'thanks', but rest assured your feedback has been captured and saved!
(10:14:45)

Will van Gulik
yes
(10:15:17)

Sasha Romijn
The part where presenters can't actually see whether other people see their slides, does seem impractical.
(10:15:46)

Shane Kerr
👋
(10:16:07)

Will van Gulik
niall, please mute ;)
(10:16:28)

Marek Barczyk
best way to confirm this is to use second device as feedback, but this introduces a risk of audio loop
(10:16:29)

Peter Koch
echo?
(10:16:29)

Daniel Karrenberg
niall, mute!
(10:16:32)

Melchior Aelmans_519
@Nial, can you please mute your mic
(10:16:41)

Marc Groeneweg
Guess it's Niall ;-)
(10:16:49)

Will van Gulik
thanks !
(10:17:00)

Nathalie Trenaman
@sasha I solved that as a presenter, by converting my slides to HTML, and have them in a seperate browser tab. That allows to switch between tabs and see what is going on on Meetecho at the same time. Worked as a charm
(10:17:06)

Robert Kisteleki
@Sasha: depends on the setup. if you can see the ME window while presention, you can also see if your slides are up or not. works well with a seaparate display
(10:17:06)
*while presenting
(10:17:34)

Wolfgang Tremmel
it also helps to have three screens - PowerPoint only occupies two
(10:17:41)

Marco Hogewoning
Indeed, but sending does not guarantee that everybody receives
(10:17:45)

Seyed Roohollah Marashi
i cannot see u
(10:18:13)

Nathalie Trenaman
Marco, hence the 2 tabs. Just one screen needed
(10:18:19)

Marco Hogewoning
and Keynote has a useful "present in window" these days, got added for exactly this virtual stuff
(10:18:24)

Robert Kisteleki
in the ME window you see what everyone sees so it's a pretty good indicator
(10:18:24)

Bengt Gördén
@Marco -- you can always look at the old stream to see if your slides is there
(10:18:43)

Niall O'Reilly
I muted it already, immediately after speaking
(10:18:56)

Seyed Roohollah Marashi
i can see u now
(10:18:57)

Ondrej Caletka
The problem is with Keynote, because no matter how many screens you have, Keynote will use at most two of them and makes other screens blank
(10:18:59)
The only solution is a separate device :)
(10:19:15)

Nathalie Trenaman
Or HTML the slides :)
(10:19:24)

Sasha Romijn
Or pre-record :)
(10:19:32)

Hans Petter Holen
Keynote even eats the 3rd screen for presenter notes.
(10:19:36)

Marco Hogewoning
??? We need to chat, Keynote never doers that on my end
(10:19:39)

Robert Kisteleki
"present in window" as Marco said works well
(10:19:42)

Dmitry Kohmanyuk
if you run meetecho in a tab and switch to another then audio is muted (in Safari) and one has to press reload. so yes, need two devices
(10:19:59)

Ondrej Caletka
Personally, I prefer pdf slides and pdfpc utility, which supports windowed mode
(10:20:06)

Bengt Gördén
seems that a BCP for meetecho speakers are needed
(10:20:16)

Hans Petter Holen
If only I could get speakernotes in a separate window when I present in window.
(10:20:28)

Marco Hogewoning
anyway, maybe we should pay attention to this presenter....seems rather important work
(10:20:32)

Dmitry Kohmanyuk
just a phone or ipad to watch live stream or same meetcho without microphone permission should do it
(10:20:33)

Shane Kerr
Thanks @Marco. We think so!
(10:20:57)

Sasha Romijn
If meetecho is staying, some practical tips for common presentation software would definitely be nice. As well as a testing session that's open the whole meeting.
(10:21:11)

Oliver Payne
thanks Sasha, noted :)
(10:21:50)

Olivia Mijnals-Ruimwijk
Hi Sasha there was a testing session on Monday morning
(10:22:02)

Dmitry Kohmanyuk
there is no harm to keep it running all the time
(10:22:23)

Harry Cross
probably financial
(10:22:38)

Dmitry Kohmanyuk
does not have to be attended :)
(10:22:42)
well meetecho is open source right? and there is also Jitsu meet — which does not scale that well i heard
(10:23:19)

Gert Döring
ondrej: pdfpc is a pdf viewer?
(10:23:36)

Ondrej Caletka
PDF presenter's console, yes:
(10:24:03)
https://github.com/pdfpc/pdfpc
(10:24:05)

Will van Gulik
dmitry, you have tweaks for jitsi, i didnt tried them. We use BBB on our side, but didnt tried above 50 participants
(10:24:25)

Gert Döring
ondrej: nice. I had the issue with PDF and fullscreen... next meeting I know better :-)
(10:24:54)

Niall O'Reilly
In m y experience, the "knee" for jisi seems to be about a dozen participants. I'ld love to learn about tweaks
(10:24:57)

Daniel Karrenberg
><><><><>< for James
(10:25:26)

Will van Gulik
niall, ill try to find the details and forward them to you, we can disscuss that
(10:25:30)

Ondrej Caletka
@Dmitry, Meetecho is not open source. It is based on open source project Janus, but that's just the core of it. All the bells and whistles are actually commercial
(10:25:32)

Christian Teuschel
well done James!
(10:25:41)

Hervé Clement
very clear James ! Thanks !
(10:26:05)

Denesh Bhabuta
Happy Birthday, Leo :-)
(10:26:30)

Dmitry Kohmanyuk
well then there is even more need to make it usable - right now it look amateurish in many details
(10:27:01)

Rumy Kanis
Yes! Happy birthday Leo :). Good to see you!
(10:27:03)

Olivia Mijnals-Ruimwijk
Happy birthday Leo. Indeed great to see you!!!
(10:27:40)

Daniel Karrenberg
dah dha daaaah dah, daah daaaaaaah; dah dha daaaah dah, daah daaaaaaah; dah dha daaaah dah, daah Leo, dah dha daaaah dah, daah daaaaaaah]
(10:28:31)

Shane Kerr
I think Meetecho is much better for the RIPE meeting than Zoom at least. And I would rather use a telephone conference call than WebEx. :-D
(10:29:41)
Lovely to see the CoC work proceeding.
(10:30:02)

Ruben van Staveren
Yes, indeed
(10:30:15)

Denesh Bhabuta
Thanks
(10:30:40)

Gert Döring
yes, meetecho is much nicer, especially the microphone queue is just great.
(10:30:48)

Mohamad Boroumandfar
Meetecho better than zoom . i am agree with you
(10:30:57)

Daniel Karrenberg
i am awake and curious to see the next draft!
(10:30:58)

Brian Nisbet
I <3 the microphone queue.
(10:31:03)

Franziska Lichtblau
o/ yes, the microphone queue is great
(10:31:06)

Gert Döring
the fine details about presenting, window mode / presenter notes etc. need to be sorted out... we had some issues with that as well (if you share a full screen, you cannot see the countdown timer)
(10:31:21)

Hervé Clement
Has the yesterday dance party finished late yesterday ?
(10:31:21)

Ruben van Staveren
had bug blue button for another webinar last night, and for sure I see the added value of the microphone queue
(10:31:25)

Marco Hogewoning
it pretty much was done at 21:30~22:00 CET
(10:31:51)

Leo Vegoda
Thank you all for the birthday wishes!
(10:31:54)

Dmitry Kohmanyuk
there can be many UX changes implemented so yes perhaps we need to collect all feedback systematically, from attendees, presenters and chairs, and also staff
(10:32:26)

Hervé Clement
@ Marco thanks :) not too late compared the previous ones
(10:32:45)

Sasha Romijn
@Dmitry: that's what the feedback form is for :)
(10:32:59)

Oliver Payne
/attend/feedback/ :)
(10:33:19)

Dmitry Kohmanyuk
which feedback form? :)
(10:33:33)

Chris Buckridge
@Dmitry, the NCC is definitely collecting all feedback and suggestion systematically, so yes, the important thing is for people to make sure they send it there!
(10:33:37)
(and Oliver has the link - thanks Oli!)
(10:33:46)

Bengt Gördén
regarding online meeting software. I ran across this one last night. https://www.org.meet.coop/
(10:34:17)

Florian Streibelt
I think most of the people are actually pretty happy with ME ;)
(10:34:21)

Dmitry Kohmanyuk
it is not linked from meeting site - which by the way is much nicer designed with big mobile-friendly buttons on top, for the first time i can find everything in one click!
(10:34:35)

Franziska Lichtblau
Usually we also all receive a mail with the feedback form :)
(10:35:10)
[ after the meeting of course ]
(10:35:17)

Brian Nisbet
Dmitry, the feedback form is on the front page of ripe81.ripe.net
(10:35:20)

Denesh Bhabuta
We were up until quite late at the social last night.. so still very sleepy.
(10:36:24)

Dmitry Kohmanyuk
yes it is on main page, but not on live streaming :)
(10:36:28)

Leo Vegoda
It is not quite 3am here, Denesh
(10:36:47)

Hervé Clement
@ Denesh I understand :)
(10:36:52)

Denesh Bhabuta
Hah!
(10:36:55)

Leo Vegoda
It's been weird going to bed at 5pm
(10:36:57)

Elvis Velea_266
I go to bed at 6AM and miss the mornings
(10:37:25)

Hervé Clement
ohhh !
(10:37:32)

Denesh Bhabuta
@Elvis you are in the same TZ as leo
(10:37:43)

Elvis Velea_266
miss = sleep
(10:37:47)

Hervé Clement
as my hotel is far away I had to leave pretty early
(10:37:50)

Elvis Velea_266
yup, PST
(10:37:53)

Florian Streibelt
going to bed when the sun was up in Iceland was weird!
(10:37:53)

James Kennedy

Denesh Bhabuta

(10:39:20)

Wolfgang Tremmel

(10:39:26)

Livio Morina
Leo, you need some short strong italian coffee
(10:39:35)

Eliot Lear
@Livio don't we all?
(10:40:11)

Peter Koch
thanks a lot, HPH!
(10:40:32)

Livio Morina

(10:40:38)

Denesh Bhabuta
I'll be making a short Portuguese espresso @Livio
(10:40:43)
@HPH - Yes, Yes!
(10:40:57)

Nathalie Trenaman
I love green jasmine tea! Let's have a green jasmin tea next time we meet, Leo :)
(10:41:06)

Livio Morina
I miss the Portuguese version. I'm curious
(10:41:07)

(10:41:12)

Denesh Bhabuta

(10:41:26)

Livio Morina

(10:43:52)

Nurani Nimpuno
@Eileen Agree 100%. Well spoken!
(10:44:13)

Shane Kerr
FYI, the DNS working group has term limits and also staggered co-chair slots to help training/on-boarding new chairs.
(10:44:15)

Daniel Karrenberg
@eileen: ><><><><><
(10:44:28)

James Kennedy
great suggestions Eileen
(10:44:43)

James Blessing
Random question - is there a term limit for Ripe Chair?
(10:44:49)

Dmitry Kohmanyuk
the feedback form has 13 questions and fails around 10th (so it does not accept my answer for 10 and then cannot submit entire set of answers.)
(10:44:52)

Brian Nisbet
James, yes, 2 x 5 year terms.
(10:45:02)

James Blessing
thx
(10:45:05)

Daniel Karrenberg
coffeee!
(10:45:09)

Dmitry Kohmanyuk
something simpler like “topic of feedback + text” is better
(10:45:10)
maybe 3 x 3 years
(10:45:22)
staggering is also good
(10:46:11)

Marc Groeneweg
time for my double espresso!
(10:46:53)

Wolfgang Zenker
thanks, Daniel
(10:46:54)

Olivia Mijnals-Ruimwijk
